Ok. Let’s start by asking:
“What’s another word for “rooster?”
“What’s another word for “donkey?”

Are you a shock jock? Do you want to leave them slack-jawed and smack-faced?
They look at you like they see a car crash. They rubberneck. They can’t stop.
They twist their heads like the dog when you tell him a joke. They squinch their faces.

Maybe they ask, “what the hell does it mean?”
Maybe they get it, and become outraged.
Even though they get it, they ask what it means anyway. How could you wear this kind of shirt? Are you some kind of sadist???

You keep a straight face.
You say, “In the early 20th century, the mid-western democrats did not use the donkey to represent their party, but instead they used the rooster. It’s a political shirt.”
They stare at you like you just drilled their head and filled it with rubber.
“Look it up on wikipedia,” you say, as if their blank face was actually a question.
You snicker.
